Investing In Eternity
It is a privilege to be a part of what God is doing through Emmanuel! Our congregation is touching people for Christ every day.
One of the major tools we have for ministry is our facility. God has blessed us with a thitry-acre campus that makes it possible for us to minister effectively for His cause in our community. From our large group worship services and outreach ministries such as Sunday Worship, AWANA, Day of Thunder, Martial Arts Classes, Fall Festival, Independence Day Picnic and Christmas Eve Service, to our smaller group Bible studies, workshops, fellowships and athletic events such as Sunday Bible Classes, Precept Bible Studies, Connexion Groups, Next Level Youth, Women's Ministries and Men's Basketball, we have appropriate spaces to fulfill our mission.
The expenses associated with the retirement of our mortgage debt resulting from the purchase of our facility and the maintenance of our campus is great. All maintenance expense is annually budgeted as part of our General Fund. All payments (both principal and interest) necessary to retire the facility mortgage debt are annually budgeted through the Capital Development Fund. The current balance on our mortgage is $2,000,000.
The purchase of our campus property and facility has been made possible so far by three capital giving campaigns. The first was Possess the Land through which we purchased our property. The second and third campaigns were Take Possession of the Land and Take Possession of the Land 2. These last two campaigns, along with the Stand in the Gap initiative, have provided necessary monthly cash flows for us to meet our mortgage payment obligations to date.
On Sunday, October 18th, we begin our fourth capital giving campaign: Investing In Eternity. During this campaign, we will go on a six-week spiritual adventure toward building a life of faith, hope, love, generosity and gratitude with the goal of each of us becoming an aggressive investor in eternity.
Our campaign investment goal is $750,000. These funds will be received through a special offering on Sunday, November 22nd, and will be in the form of cash investments and three-year faith investments. Your cash investment is a one-time offering to God, while your faith investment is an amount you decide to give over the next three years. Most of us can give far more than we initially think by giving it over time.
There is no greater investment than the cause of Christ. It is the safest investment you will ever make and it is the only investment that pays dividends for eternity. (Matthew 13:44; 6:19-24)
